ACTIVITY DURING WWII

ENTERED THE UNITED STATES ARMY IN 1941, TRAINED IN TEXAS, KANSAS, AND CALIFORNIA. SERVED AS A SERGEANT IN THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC. HE WAS A PRISONER OF WAR OF THE JAPANESE FOR FORTY-ONE MONTHS. AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC RIBBON, AMERICAN DEFENSE RIBBONS WITH SEVEN OVERSEAS BARS. WOUNDED IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS IN 1944. DISCHARGED AND RE-ENLISTED IN 1946.
